Jet Airways India – Known Everywhere for Amazing Growth and Expansion

Since their beginning seventeen years ago in 1993, complete credit needs to be given to Jet Airways (India) for all that they have accomplished. The determination to achieve their goals is shown in their mission statement as well as the numerous awards they have won. To offer higher standards than other airlines as well as becoming the preferred airline of choice in their home country of India is clearly stated. Making sure they have the best quality of reliable operations and services is a commitment goal as well. As far as domestic air passenger service is concerned, Jet Airways will strive to become a world class airline of choice for domestic travel. This airline seems to be on top of meeting their goals from what we have seen.

Following the historic month of May 2011, for Jet Airways, company Chairman Naresh Goyal was re-elected to the Board of Governors of the IATA in early June. Mr. Goyal will be on the Board of Governors until 2013. Chairman Goyal served his first term on the Board of Governors from 2008 until 2011, with this being his second term. As the primary group who supervises the passenger air travel industry, IATA’s focus is primarily on maintaining proper safety standards; this is their focus, allowing the rates to remain reasonable. There are 230 airline members in the organization, and that represents just under 95% of international commercial air traffic around the globe.

Airlines in competition with each other often create alliances and Jet Airways did that with Kingfisher Airlines, another Indian air passenger carrier. Actually, as of the last quarter of 2010, Kingfisher is number two in India, second to Jet Airways, for total air passengers carried. The nature of the agreement is basically a code-share affecting international flights as well as domestic routes. In order to reduce expenses, the two airlines have joined forces in a number of service and infrastructure programs. Obviously this is financially benefits both companies, although unfortunately it probably caused some jobs to be lost.

The commercial aviation industry is no stranger to code sharing Code sharing is the name of the agreement between at least two airlines that allows them to offer connecting air service to the other company’s clients. Each airline participating in the share benefits from the arrangement as do the people who are flying because they have more options available to them. Jet Airways has at least a dozen different code sharing agreements with airlines that are based all over the world. With more than twenty international destinations, Jet Airways is obviously always on the lookout to form international air passenger service code share agreements. It is possible that, eventually, the airline can use it’s steady growth and populous target market to form an air consortium.

Jet Airways India is not yet twenty years old, but it has grown at a rapid pace through forward-thinking management and aggressive marketing. When you stop to think about all of the hurdles facing India’s society it is an amazing credit to the founders of Jet Airways that they have gotten as far as they have.
